THE HAMBURG BID

The bidding concept is based on the following benefits of Hamburg:

  • Unique waterfront city

  • Sold out venues

  • Extraordinary venues of the highest standards

  • Perfect organisation

  • Very hospitable population

To ensure that the 15th FINA World Championships 2013 in Hamburg display a worldwide unique character, the OC has attached the utmost importance to the selection of the competition venues. Hamburg will not need to construct and build any new venues as the complete required infrastructure and facilities to the latest standards are already in place. Five criteria are especially relevant for the choice: attractive stadiums with short travel distances, highest technical standards, links to the sights which are worth seeing, use of existing competition sites and sustained development of sports infrastructure.

The event will be held at three different Venues. The Hamburg Aquatic Parc will be used for swimming and water polo. The diving events will be held in the Hamburg Diving Center. The open water contests will take place on the Inner Alster.
